boAt Announces a Rs 50 Lakh Donation to Aid in the Acquisition of Oxygen Concentrators in the Fight Against COVID-19

BoAt, an Indian audio company, has pledged a donation of Rs 50 lakh to help hospitals with COVID-19 relief by purchasing high-quality oxygen concentrators and essential medical supplies. BoAt joins a growing list of domestic and international organisations pledging to assist India in the fight against the virus. In a statement, boAt announced a partnership with SaveLIFE Foundation to deliver oxygen concentrators across Delhi, helping to meet the growing demand. Over the next few days, the audio player manufacturer will collaborate with the Health Department to ensure that critical oxygen concentrators and other essentials are distributed to hospitals and COVID-Care centres. BoAt claims, for example, that the company had paused all of its operations.

The ongoing pandemic, according to Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt, has reached “catastrophic proportions” in India, particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR). In the statement, he added “As an Indian brand, we recognise the challenges being faced by our people today and we truly hope that our small contribution will support healthcare and frontline workers as they race against time to save lives and contain the spread of this virus”

Meanwhile, a global coalition of entrepreneurs, investors, tech leaders, and organisations has formed to support India. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently announced that the company would make a donation to aid and relief efforts on the ground. Satya Nadela and Sundar Pichai, the Indian CEOs of Microsoft and Google, have also expressed their support for COVID relief. Both companies have promised hospitals critical oxygen supplies and other necessities. Furthermore, Realme announced earlier today that it has postponed its “biggest” launch event due to the virus in the country. On May 4, Realme is expected to release the Dimensity 1200-enabled Realme X7 Max 5G and Smart TV 4K.
