How to locate or remotely wipe your lost Android phone

We all agree that life is impossible in today’s age without a smartphone. Imagine going out shopping with your friends one fine day and misplacing your smartphone. No one’s going to want to be in that situation, I’m sure, right? But if anything like that happens to you, what do you do? Panicking in such situations is never a solution. We have some tips for you in order to help you resolve certain circumstances. Today, we’re going to take a look at how you can locate your Android phone and remotely delete all of the data from your missing phone.

Note: The location service and data option should be switched on to locate the missing Android device. On the other side, it should have an active data link in order to delete the data from your missing phone.

How to find a lost Android smartphone

Step 1: On a different phone or laptop, head over to Google’s Find My Device page and log in with your Google credentials. You are now logging in to the smartphone that you want to track.

Step 2: As soon as you log in, the website begins looking for your account-linked phone that was last used. Underneath the last used phone, you will be able to see all of the other devices signed into that account.

Step 3: After the service locates your phone, along with several other options, it will provide you with its position on the map.

Step 4: To open a Google Maps window that offers the exact directions to your phone, you can tap on the pointer located on the map.

Step 5: You can use the other options on the list, such as “Play Sound” or “Secure Device,” after you approach the exact location.

Your system will ring for 5 minutes with the replay sound feature, even if it is quiet. The safe device function locks the device, signs it out of your Google account, and shows a message on the lock screen, along with your phone number.

Now you can even do it from Google’s Find My Device tool if you can not find your smartphone and want to delete all data so that it does not get into the wrong hands.

Step 1: Head over to the website Find My Device.

Step 2: In the Options list, tap on the “Erase Device” button, located under the name and information of the device.

Step 3: Confirm by tapping on the new splash screen with the “Erase Device” button.

Step 4: Using your Google credentials, confirm your identity.

Step 5: It will perform a factory data reset as soon as the phone connects to the internet.

Note: The phone will be wiped completely by using the Erase option. This means that it will uninstall all of your applications, images, music, and settings. The Find My Phone service will also stop working for the system after this. So, do this move only if you’re sure you’re not going to get your phone back.
