According to sources familiar with the situation, HP is planning to launch a sun-Rs 25,000 Chromebook in India soon. This will complement HP’s existing line of low-cost Chromebooks, which range in price from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000. Although an exact launch date has yet to be determined, the Chromebooks are expected to be released in the first week of April 2021, with sales likely to begin in the upcoming days. With more schools offering online courses, the market for low-cost Chromebooks has gradually increased. With its latest Chromebook series, HP is hoping to capitalize on this market.
It’s too early to comment on the upcoming HP Chromebook’s specifications, but we can expect it to be powered by an improved version of Intel’s Celeron N4020 processor, most likely the Celeron N5100 that was released a while ago. The four-core, four-thread CPU runs at 1.8GHz and can be overclocked to 2.8GHz.Graphics are managed by an advanced Intel UHD iGPU. It can support up to 12GB of LPDDR4x 2,933MHz RAM, but the HP Chromebook in question is unlikely to have more than 4GB. Also included should be 64/128GB of eMMC capacity.
A touch-enabled 14-inch HD (1366 x 768) monitor could be used in the HP Chromebook. If HP’s latest SKUs are any indication, a 12-inch model is in the works as well. It will most likely be operated by a 2-cell 45Wh battery with a 10 hour backup time. Two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, and a micro SD card reader may be included in the connectivity options. Bluetooth 5 and 802.11 b/g/n/ac/ Wi-Fi will be eligible for wireless networking.
