One of the most awaited phones of 2020, Vivo V20 Pro was launched in India today at 12 pm through a Youtube Live session with Technical Guruji at the Vivo India headquarters. The flagship Vivo phone was first unveiled along with Vivo V20 in September, at an event in Thailand. Vivo India CEO, Jerome Chen had confirmed last month that Vivo V20 Pro would debut in India at the end of November. However, any concrete launch details weren’t provided by him. But nonetheless, registrations for Vivo V20 Pro had recently started in the country. On 30th November, Vivo announced the launch of the phone on 2nd December through a media invite, and finally today, Vivo launched its flagship phone at 12 pm.
During Tech in Use’s live Youtube session featuring Technical Guruji and Vivo India’s Director of Product Management, Mr. Vikas Tagra, Vivo revealed many of its best features, pricing, design, performance, and also provided 5 lucky viewers with a chance to win their flagship phone. Let us take a detailed look at all the information that we gathered from today’s announcement.
Talking about the Vivo V20 Series, Vivo India’s Director of Product Management, Mr. Vikas Tagra said that the main focus was always on the design and camera which can be observed in the previously launched phones, V20 and V20 SE. Talking about V20, Vivo had introduced a “one of its kind technology” in the selfie camera called High Autofocus technology, that too with a 44MP camera lens. Talking about the design, V20 is one of the slimmest smartphones available in the market today. So even this time, Vivo V20 Pro was designed, keeping in mind both design and technology. V20 Pro was not only upgraded in design and camera but major upgrades were made in the performance as well.
When asked to define V20 Pro in a single line the product management director said that it’s a “Pro grade camera in the slimmest 5G smartphone experience.” Vivo V20 Pro is providing a complete package of design, camera, and performance.
Talking about the design, through an insight obtained through Vivo’s customer research, they found out that the customer’s first observation on seeing a smartphone is not the features or performance but the design indeed. Hence V20 Pro was designed keeping in mind the same. The phone is 7.3 MM slim and weighs only 170 g which makes it “India’s slimmest 5G smartphone.” The beveled cuts and the meticulous finish provided in the rear camera really make the phone stand out. Two new technologies have been introduced on the phone’s rear cover, which is rarely found in this segment. The first one being the antiglare AG Matte finish that makes the phone very smooth. The second technology is Anti-fingerprint Vacuum Coating which removes the presence of unwanted fingerprints and smears on the phone. Hence the phone’s superior look remains intact for a long time. Moreover, the colors Moonlight Sonata, Sunset Melody, and Midnight Jazz provide a very chic look to the phone.
Coming to the camera, Vivo has really outdone itself. Vivo V20’s camera had 44 megapixels High-Autofocus selfie camera. But Vivo V20 Pro is one step ahead of it. It provides a Pro-selfie experience to its users. The same technology as Vivo V20 has been included in Vivo V20 Pro and to top that, an 8MP dedicated lens has also been added. Other phones in the market are also providing dual cameras but what’s special about Vivo V20 Pro’s dual camera is that it not only gives a wider perspective and wider selfies but also makes your selfies distortion-free. A lot of R&D has gone into making the front camera’s wide lens distortion free through which the corners of photos won’t get distorted anymore, hence providing a very user-friendly selfie experience.
In addition, the 8MP wide-angle camera lens has been used very wisely. You can add bokeh effects to it. It can be used not only for wider photos but also for wider videos. A brand new feature named Double Exposure has also been added to the front camera. It will give an artistic effect to your portraits and make them even more perfect. A lot of phones in the market have dual cameras but the Vivo V20 Pro uses its dual-camera differently. On turning on double exposure, both the cameras will turn on simultaneously and can be used to superimpose on each other. Double exposure is a unique feature that has been provided in this segment for the first time and will help your creative juices flow.
Moreover, Super Night Selfie 2.0 has been carried forward from Vivo V20 but what’s new is Aura Screen Light. Aura Screen Light works like a studio light. All phones have night modes but in Vivo V20 Pro, on turning on Aura Screen Light mode, a studio light will turn on which won’t be harsh and you will get to see a real-time preview of your picture before clicking the selfie so that your smile can remain the same. Noise reduction algorithms have also been added to the Night mode to make night photography flawless.
Talking about the video features, no feature has been excluded from the front camera that is present in the rear camera. The 4K resolution videos that were previously limited to the rear camera have now been extended to the front camera as well, that too at 60fps. Talking about slo-mo’s, now you can capture your slow-motion videos at 240fps, which is almost 8 times slower than the actual speed, and all that without losing any clarity. The triple rear camera features three powerful camera lenses, the primary 64MP lens, the secondary 8MP multifunction camera lens, and the tertiary 2MP mono-camera. The 8MP multifunction camera gives a field of view of 120°. The macro camera is not 2 MP but 8MP instead and you can go up to 2.5 cm close.
Coming to the performance, the processor is the backbone of performance which not only enhances gaming capabilities and camera capabilities but also enhances your multitasking experience. Hence, V20 Pro has been equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. It is also the first phone of the V series to provide a 5G experience to the users, making it a future-ready phone and the most powerful of the V series. It comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. Coming to battery and charging, The phone is equipped with a 4000 MAH battery. A 33W flash charge 2.0 has been provided which can charge your phone to an astonishing 65% in only 30 minutes.
Talking about the software functionalities, Funtouch OS 11 based on Android 10, has been added to the smartphone. And within the first week of December, through the firmware upgrade, users will also be able to access Android 11. Some AI features like AI image matting and dynamic sky have also been included. But what’s new is the ‘Memory Recaller’ feature. This feature enables you to fine-tune your pictures that were taken with a 2MP or 5 MP camera in the past and hence enhance their quality.
Vivo has always ensured consumer delight, giving them an absolute priority. So, the sale of Vivo V20 Pro has also been set at a very delightful pricing of Rs. 29,990/- only.
