5G is soon going to be a reality, all thanks to Jio!

Jio is going to roll-out 5G network services all over India in the second half of 2021, revealed the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani during Indian Mobile Congress 2020 on Tuesday. They also said that this would be a testimony to the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat(self-reliant India) policy. Besides this, Jio is also developing affordable Android phones in the coming months in collaboration with Google.

” I assure you that Jio will pioneer the 5G revolution in India in the second half of 2021. It will be powered by the indigenous-developed network, hardware, and technology components,” he said.

Jio will roll out its 5G network in a shorter period when compared to its other competitors, like Airtel and Vi ( known as Vodafone Idea).

At the 43rd annual general meeting of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani announced that they would start testing the 5G network once the spectrum will be available. This is going to be a reality soon. Jio is working on this project with the help of companies like Samsung and Qualcomm.

Development of 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) was also announced at the Qualcomm 5G Summit in October, which will help them to test the next-generation network at scale.

Some people still use the 2G network because they can’t afford devices that support higher network services. Keeping this in mind, Ambani urged the government to take some policy steps for bringing affordable smart-phones to underprivileged people.

In collaboration with Google, Jio is planning to launch entry-level 4G Android smart-phones. The new model will be arriving in the 1st quarter of 2021 with speculated price of around Rs. 4,000.

“Jio Platforms, with its family of over 20 startup partners, has built world-class capabilities in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, machine learning, Internet of Things, blockchain, etc,” said Ambani.

“We are creating compelling home-grown solutions in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, financial services, and new commerce.”
