How to make WhatsApp video calls and voice calls on desktop

Finally, after a long wait, WhatsApp has enabled WhatsApp voice and video calling on the desktop. Although the feature still remains restricted in the dedicated app for Windows and iOS, it brings great convenience and eases to users.

WhatsApp is one of the most habitually used instant messaging applications, offering us many features time to time in order to make our experience as convenient as possible. Some of the features include sharing images, videos, documents, voice recording, and even enabling users to make video calls and audio calls. Recently, Facebook has also launched a web version of WhatsApp to serve a wider audience, but it is certainly not as feature-filled compared to the app. To be further more precise, one of the most core features that the WhatsApp Site shortfall is the ability to make video and audio calls.

Before we begin, it is important to know that this feature is presently available exclusively on WhatsApp Web and only works with the application for Windows and macOS.

Pre-requisites:

Windows 10 64-bit version 1903 and newer 

macOS 10.13 and newer
Audio output device and microphone for voice and video calls

Without any further ado, let us show you step by step how to make video calls and voice calls using WhatsApp on desktop.

Step 1-

First and foremost, download and install the latest version of WhatsApp on your desktop. You can also use the WhatsApp web on your browser.

Step 2-

Open your WhatsApp app on your desktop and configure the QR code with your smartphone.

Next, hit the vertical three dots which will show the drop-down menu, and select the ‘Create a room’ option.

You’ll see a pop-up on the screen. Go ahead by hitting the ‘Continue in messenger’ option.

Step 5-

Note that you need a Facebook account for this to work. Enter your valid Facebook ID and password in the given space.

Step 6-

Now create a room and you are all ready to start a video call or only a voice call. Just share the video call link with others. You can do that by sending the link to other contacts on WhatsApp.
