Instagram is one of the largest photo-sharing platforms in the industry. After the ban of TIKTOK in India, Instagram took a step forward and released a new feature in the app. Content creators of the TIKTOK platform used to reupload their videos on Instagram and get views. After analysis of the Reels, Instagram decided to take a frowning step against TIKTOK polluting their Reels section. As per the latest guidelines for Instagram content creators, influencers, photo, and video-sharing social networking platforms stated that they will start imitating the popularity ratio and reach of videos that are reposted or have a watermark or logo on them. Even the blurry videos due to low resolution will be included in them. Although, there was no mention of TIKTOK in the guidelines provided by them, that it was quite clear the company was referring to the video-sharing social networking platform TIKTOK and the content creator’s habit of recycling content.
As per the latest guidelines provided by Instagram these reposted videos won’t be promoted or recommended as frequently in the Reels section. Videos will only be visible to the creator’s feed and their followers. One would never wish to have its competitor’s content posted on their platform, Instagram is just a clone of TikTok. Instagram’s decision to restrain these recycled videos will be a good thing to inspire their creators to make some new and creative content for their followers rather than simply recycling or reposting their TIKTOK content.
