Samsung is turning out to be the hero of 2021, with one too many product announcements, a new series lineup, rumored launches, and upcoming launch events. Yes, you read that right! All of this took place within a fortnight of the new year. Samsung released the teaser for its latest flagship series S21, following which a launch event for the same, Unpacked 2021 was announced on the 14th of January. Not only that but Samsung Galaxy M02S was launched in India, along with the rumors of a new cheaper addition to the A-series namely A32G.
With all these things rumbling, you’d be wrong to believe that these are all the surprises that Samsung had up its sleeves. As per the rumors, Samsung may launch two new products at the Samsung Unpacked event along with the S21 series, and the products may be none other than the very awaited Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+. This new range of products from Samsung are smart tracking devices, quite similar to the Tile chips available in the market. Apple has been on the way to making trackables of their own called the AirTags, but now it seems that Samsung is a step ahead and may launch its product before Apple.
The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ bear the model numbers EI-T5300 and EI-T7300 respectively. This was first confirmed by known tipster Ishan Agarwal in as tweet mentioning rumors regarding the same. It mentioned that the tracker will be able to connect to all Galaxy devices. On pressing the button on the SmartTag, you can ring your phone and also share the location with your friends and family.
Specifications and Features
The trackers are of the dimensions 4cmx4cmx1cm and their weight will be approximately 13 grams. They will be available for sale in packs of two as well as four and in color options such as Black, Mint, Denim Blue, and oatmeal. This is applicable to both of the trackers, Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+. The Galaxy SmartTag is also said to feature end-to-end encryption and ‘Privacy ID’ for security.
The features of the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ have not been sparred yet, but considering that it is an upped version of the common SmartTag, one can expect similar features with quite a few upgrades. As for the shape, the Galaxy SmartTag is expected to sport a squarish shape with rounded edges along with a lanyard-shaped hole for a strap or a cord. The price of the Galaxy SmartTag could be approximately EUR 15 which is about Rs 1,350 in Europe.
