Samsung May Flash Its Redesigned Wear OS Later This Month

Samsung and Google to come together and work on Wear OS.

Samsung has scheduled an online-only event where it could unveil the new Wear OS. The event will take place on June 28 during the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2021 expo, spotted by 9to5Google. Last month in Google I/O, Google showed some features of the upcoming version of Wear OS, which would probably run on Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4. Samsung says:

“The Galaxy ecosystem of connected devices, services, and partnerships provides people with choice, freedom, and possibility. We’re reimagining smartwatches, creating new opportunities for both developers and consumers. And we’re enhancing security, giving people the protection they need in an open and connected world.”

What to expect from this event

Currently, Samsung smartwatches are powered by the Tizen smartwatch operating system. But Google and Samsung recently came together to work on the upcoming version of Wear OS. This new platform features up to 30% faster app startup time, improved battery life, improved stock apps, an easier way to build apps, third-party tiles, and a watch face designer by Samsung.

Also, it was reported that Samsung would give their touch by adding “One UI skin” across this Wear OS. We can also expect a newer version of Google Fit, a standalone Google Maps app, Google Pay, YouTube Music with offline playback, Google Assistant, and Fitbit app in the upcoming OS.

Apart from this, we could expect Samsung to discuss security updates for its Galaxy device and a word for the Galaxy ecosystem. The Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch Active 4 could feature a Super AMOLED display, a 5nm Exynos chipset, an IP68 rating, and a 247mAh battery. No matter what Samsung comes up with, we’ll see the changes in a short time on June 28.
