SpaceX to Accept Dogecoin Payments and Will Use It to Launch Lunar Satellites next Year

Dogecoin will now be accepted as the exclusive payment option for the launch of the lunar satellite DOGE-1 by the US Space Exploration Technology Company (SpaceX).

Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC) announced today the DOGE-1 Mission to the Moon—the first-ever commercial lunar payload in history paid entirely with DOGE—will launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

So, What is DOGE-1?

Geometric Space Corporation (GSC) project management will collaborate with SpaceX to launch a 40kg CubeSat as rideshare on a Falcon 9 lunar payload mission in Q1 2022 as part of Geometric Energy Corporation’s DOGE-1 mission to the Moon. Sensors and cameras onboard will provide lunar-spatial intelligence to the payload, which will be combined with advanced communications and computational systems.

Dogecoins Soars as it Gets Another Big Supporter

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, is the most well-known supporter of Dogecoin, referring to himself as the “Father of Dogecoin.” In an episode of “Saturday Night Live,” he joked that Dogecoin was a “scam.” He also reported on Twitter in April of this year that he will put a Dogecoin on the moon.

Dogecoin allows users to do a limited number of activities. This is in contrast to rivals like Ethereum, which enable developers to create lending and other applications on their platforms.

Furthermore, Dogecoin is not a viable asset storing mechanism and, in order to accomplish this aim, the market typically requires a certain level of long-term trust in the currency and the blockchain it creates.

Nevertheless, Whether Dogecoin really has value is still an open question in India.
